November 2011 - Works passenger terminal Guajiru Airport now also started!
4 October 2011 now also the works started for the passenger terminal.
The terminal, awarded to the company Poly Construcoes ltda at Rs 9.2 million, has to be completed and delivered operative latest within 360 days from it's commence, so latest by Oct 2013.
Since it will be an International Airport, offices for the Federal Police and customs are also foreseen and planned in these works.
The airport ('s landing strip) will be capable of handling the biggest airplanes like boeing's 767 - 300.
The airport is constructed to allow passengers from overseas to fly in directly, without having to pass through Fortaleza.
Fortaleza's International Airport PINTO MARTINS is not able to handle the forecasted increased number of flights, since this airport is located right in the centre of Ceara's capital: there is simply no way to expand it's capacities.
The solution is therefor:
- taking all cargo of Fortaleza out and host in futurewise at a brandnew cargo airport: Caucaia Cargo Airport.
- creating new International Airports at Guajiru, Canoa Quebrada and Camocim.
The Ceara government is making some real speed with the works and there is no more obstacles of any kind to maken it happen.
The decisions were taken, the funds are allocated, the licenses issued, the tender awarded and the works now also commenced.
In max 18 months the landing strip and 24 months the terminal will be ready!
Due to these prestigious developments, real estate and land prices at Ilha do Guajiru are now. sharply rising again, faster then ever before...
