December 2010 - Ilha do Guajiru North International Airport (Cruz)

A new International Airport is opening Aug 2011.

Iha do Guajiru North International Airport is opening August 2011, at no more then 35 car minutes from Itarema!

During 2010, an official public tender has been issued and launched for the construction of an INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, to serve both Jericoacoara and Ilha do Guajiru, as main tourist destinations at the Ceara coast line.

The airport is being delivered by it's contractor the latest within 360 days after signature of the contract, so meaning operable latest August 2011.

The works, involving Rs 60 million (euro 25 million) is split up in 2 stages:

Stage 1: the start and landing strip, at Rs 51 million.

Stage 2: the passanger terminal, with customs and police at Rs 9 million.
